Keith Blades, MA Conservation Studies, Institute of Advanced Architectural Studies, University of York, England. Keith Blades is one of Canada’s most highly regarded conservation specialists with 40 years of direct experience in the conservation field. Trained in England, he has provided technical advice and supervision for many complex restoration projects across Canada and in other countries. Since 1989, his practice has conserved historic buildings, dealing with a broad range of conservation, technical and education issues in both the public and private sectors. Keith also spent 12 years with the Federal Department of Public Works in Ottawa where his responsibilities included work on the Parliament Buildings and other nationally significant buildings.

Keith organized and taught the masonry conservation courses for The Association of Preservation Technology, and has lectured on materials conservation at the Universities of Montreal, Toronto and Carleton University. He was a director and founding member of the Canadian Guild of Stone and Restoration Masons and taught on the programs delivered by the Guild Institute. Keith has published a number of technical articles in conservation journals and textbooks.
